Vestiges of the past in the capital

Berlin’s wall path represents a part of German history with 160 kilometres through Berlin. The course of the former GDR border is characterised by historically interesting sections where remains of the wall can still be found. The route takes you along the Grand Hyatt Berlin at Potsdamer Platz all the way to Warschauer Staße. There you’ll find the most famous part of the wall, the East Side Gallery, which is the longest preserved and most colourful part of the Berlin Wall. Another symbol of Germany’s unity since the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Brandenburg Gate, is located within walking distance of the hotel.

Berlin’s best Christmas market

Weihnachstzauber – Christmas Magic – at Gendarmenmarkt offers a unique backdrop located between the concert hall and both cathedrals. It distinguishes itself with a blend of visual arts, wintery delicacies and old handicrafts. Enjoy the Christmas ambience with mulled wine or browse for a nice Christmas gift.

Open from 27 November until 31 December 2017, daily from 11am to 10pm.

Shopping tips for your city trip to Berlin

The KaDeWe, short for Kaufhaus des Westens, isn’t an insider’s tip anymore, but shouldn’t be missed on any trip to Berlin. The biggest consumption temple in Europe has got everything to offer from their gourmet floor with specialities from around the world to current fashion trends from international catwalks. Possibly the most famous shopping and strolling promenade in Berlin, the Kurfürstendamm, short “Kudamm”, is right there as well. Get inspired by more shopping tips for Berlin.

Winter wonderland in the Botanical Garden

This winter, the Botanical Garden is once again ablaze with Christmassy lights.  The Christmas Garden transforms the grounds into a sparkling fairy-tale landscape with colourful illuminations, breath-taking lighting installations and enchanting illuminated figures. Enjoy the tranquil atmosphere away from the pre-Christmas hustle and bustle with a winter walk, passing rustic fireplaces and mulled wine inbetween. You can pre-order your tickets.

Open from 16 November 2017 until 7 January 2018, Mondays through Sundays from 4.30pm to 10pm.
